If your children are in kindergarten or first grade, you may have to
supply snacks for them. The teachers will want you to send in healthy
snacks for your child or children. What can you give your child or
children as a healthy snack that they will actually eat? Not
many children like healthy foods. Now you have to supply a "healthy"
snack during the day. What will constitute as a "healthy" snack that
your child will eat? Fruits are always a good treat. Gummies that have
fruit in them can pass as healthy snacks as well.
Here's a list of snacks that are healthy enough to give your child to bring
to school and will taste good enough for your child to eat.
- Apples
- Apples are a great treat that almost every child loves. Cut the
apples for your child, especially if he or she is starting to lose
teeth.
- Bananas - Bananas can be messy, so be sure to pack paper towels or napkins with the banana. Almost every kid loves bananas.
- Gummy
Characters - Although gummy characters are good and your child will eat
them, obviously they aren't as healthy as the fruit. These are still
better for your child than cookies, cakes, or candy.
- Drink
Pouches - Your child already drinks fruit juices so this is about the
same. There are a lot of sugars in juice, but you do have to remember
if it is fruit and there is no sugar added the fruit has a lot of
sugars. When you see sugar spelled sugars on a package that means the
natural sugar of the item. It turns into carbs.
- Cereal
- Depending on the type of cereal you give to your children, cereal may
be a healthy snack to send to school. You will have to put an
individual serving in a covered bowl or in a zip bag, but your child
can enjoy their treat dry.
- Animal Crackers -
Animal crackers taste like cookies and aren't as healthy as fruit or
cereal, but your child will like them and they aren't as bad as cake.
Animal crackers make a great snack because you can buy individual bags
or you can separate servings into zip bags without much mess.
- Cheese
Crackers - Cheese crackers are good snack because they are not messy.
Cheese crackers are not as healthy as other snacks, but at least your
child is getting another grain, and another milk serving. Try not to
send peanut butter crackers with your child in case there are children
who are deathly allergic.
- Cheese Sticks -
Cheese sticks are a healthy snack. Most kids love cheese sticks. Cheese
sticks are not messy so the teacher will like them too.
You
can try to give your child true healthy snacks, but you really need to
give them something that they will eat. You do not want your child to
be hungry through their day.
